There are lots of choices available in the world of tablets and it is best to consider all of your options. Here are the top 5 things to think about before buying a tablet.



Size:
How big do you want your tablet to be? There are many screen sizes available with 10 and 7 inches being the normal sizes. The screen size isn't the only dimension you need to think about, tablets vary in weight and thickness as well so be sure to check the physical attributes of any tablets before you buy.

OS:
The tablet market is still young, but even so there are already many major operating systems available for tablets than there are in our home computers. The main ones are Google Android, Apple iOS, Blackberry tablet OS, HP webOS and of course Microsoft Windows7. Each one offers a different user interface and compatability with many different application programs. So be sure to look into each one to see which will best suit your needs.



3G OR NO 3g?
Most tablets are available in multiple hardware configurations. The major ones can be hooked up to 3G moble networks in order for them to stay online when on the go. 3G versions often cost more than their Wifi - only cousins and may also cause you to pay network carriers for data. Whether or not you need the 3G plan data depends on how you will use the tablet.

Storage:
If you are planning on using your tablet for listening to music or watching videos you are going to need a large storage space. Most tablets started on around 16Gb and are available in 32 and 64Gb sizes. Some tablets even have expansion ports for adding memory cards.

Added Extras:
Most importantly vital to look for the tablets unique selling point. A lot of tablets look very similar and in some cases many of the internal components are exactly the same. But they all still differ from each other in key ways. For example the Transformer has its keyport dock, the Optimus pad can record in 3D and the iPad has its massive application selection.
